Kristina Menih, founder of the TrentaArs project, at the first workshop wrote:

I have been returning to the picturesque Trenta valley for the past 42 years. The primeval world, missed forevermore by the modern, technology-saturated person, is a real magnet and meeting point of the preserved countryside, rich in cultural and ethnic heritage, both of long-time locals and newcomers in search of something different. While listening to the gentle sounds of the strings, drawn out form the instruments by well-known Vienna Philharmonic professors, together with the world’s most talented students, within the framework of the traditional workshop, I decided last year that the time had come to take on a new challenge.

So this year for the first time, together with my colleagues, I offered Trenta and its friends the pleasure of seeing fine works of art alongside the experience of such musical delights.

In Trenta, during the first week of June this year, the first part of my idea about an art workshop for recognised native and foreign artist, who would create and keep company together in the Trenta House, where they would experience artistic inspiration in the middle of Slovenia’s only national park at the foot of Triglav, started to take root.

Each one of the participating artist will donate at least one of his or her works; all donated artworks will be placed in the permanent art collection of well-know Slovenian and foreign painters, sculptors, photographers and video artists, which will attract visitors to this happily still unspoilt and virgin area with a touch of the Primorska region – visitors who, apart from appreciating the natural beauty, also wish to experience its art and culture.
